ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I spent my formative years as a missionary's daughter in Yokohama, Japan, from age two to nearly sixteen. This cross-cultural upbringing came to an unexpected end when a car accident left my mother needing medical care that required our family's return to the United States. The transition proved to be quite an adventure—experiencing reverse culture shock as I adjusted to what felt like a foreign country, even though it was technically "home."
After graduating from Logan High School in West Virginia, I pursued higher education in Tennessee, where I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Sociology. It was also in Tennessee that I met my husband, Terry, and we married in 1978.
Our journey together has taken us from Tennessee to Minnesota to California, and we now call the beautiful state of Kentucky home. We've been blessed with two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren who bring endless joy to our lives.
Looking back on this path—from Tokyo to Kentucky, from missionary kid to grandmother—I'm grateful for the adventure of life God has graciously given. Terry and I feel incredibly fortunate that life continues to grow richer and more meaningful with each passing year.
